Every Friday I join Lisa-Jo over at The Gypsy Mama for a quick, no edit writing topic, and we each watch, often in surprise, at what appears beneath our tapping fingers in the short span of five minutes. This week she asked for suggestions, and today our prompt is about New.
So let’s have it at and set those keyboards singing!
Five Minute Friday: New
New day. It’s my birthday! What interesting people will I meet over the next 365 days?
New day. I have given my notice at work, and next week is my last. What exciting new adventures are in store for me as I make the leap in faith to self-employment?
New day. My daughters and I have formed a group, in which we meet weekly to encourage, brainstorm and provide accountability for one another. What heights can we scale helping one another across the hills and valleys? I hear Dr. Seuss as I write that, who I just quoted to someone else yesterday, from his book, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)
KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!
So . . .
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O’Shea,
you’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So . . . get on your way!
New day. And yet my husband remains as the foundation to help me stay grounded, to be intwined in my loving heart, to comfort me, to help, assist, and help me see something for what it really is as opposed to what I see in my wild imagination.
New day. I am taking on my fears-gosh, where do I start?-and doing my best to dismantle them, as they are just are in the way of where I want to go.
New day. We’ve probably all heard the “It’s a new day-a fresh start!” said in a bright, chirpy voice by someone who you have a strong desire to silence. That’s all well and good, but what about all that mountain of baggage that is burying you? I think of a quote my dear hubbie shared with me just last night:
Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays.~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
New day. It’s time to seize your day. God gives us a fresh opportunity every day to live the life for which he uniquely gifted us. So let us indeed get on our way!
