Hello, hello, and welcome to our occasional taming of the web, where we capture stories in the great wilderness and bring them here for your perusal and enjoyment.

First in the center ring today is from Gabriele at Radical Parenting.
She writes about those recent, puzzling teen trends of planking, owling and batting. What? You’ve never heard of them? Take heart-this young writer explains these seemingly pointless, but sometimes controversial, trends and deftly asks complaining parents to take a step back in time, to compare these to those from decades past that they may have enjoyed, as a means of bridging that sometimes pesky communication gap we have with our teens.

Child psychologist Dr. Polly Dunn keeps an information packed blog-Child Psych Mom, providing perfectly imperfect parenting solutions. I know it just makes me more relaxed just thinking about being copacetic with imperfection.
She notes a recent survey of moms that asked about secrets that they keep. The one thing that moms hide the most? The Double Stuff Oreos.
Just kidding. The true answer of what moms hide the most: a feeling of being overwhelmed. Go figure.
We have so much in common with one another, and yet we are loathe to admit that we just are not supermom.
For some additional encouragement on learning to let go and just be wonderfully you, read my earlier post on Failing, Quitting and Winning, in which I come clean. There was a time I was keeping a secret: I just didn’t feel I was up to the challenge of being Supermom a good mom mom.

Now that we know other moms are feeling overwhelmed, we can all join together to destress. Woohoo-break out the popcorn, M&M’s and the home movies!
If that doesn’t do it for you, Gimundo-whose motto is Good news . . .Served Daily-has an article with suggestions to “relax and indulge in some much needed (and affordable!) R&R.”
One of my personal favorites is to do something you really enjoyed as a kid. Red Rover or Freeze Tag, anyone?

This last offering is a priceless slideshow that will bring a smile-and perhaps some neat ideas-to you. Adele Enersen is a mom in Finland who had a baby and decided to photograph her as she imagined baby Mila would see herself in her dreams.
Her quick, simple and ingenious setups were done right on the floor of her home, transporting her sleeping baby girl into landscapes crafted from everyday clothing and textiles. For a cheerful lift to your day, click on the video to see her creations.
Her images were so captivating that she is publishing a book in January 2012-When My Baby Dreams-“an imaginative journey through the irresistible dreamscapes of a newborn. A love letter to babies everywhere.”
If you have a baby of your own with whom you can experiment, we’d love to have you share!
