Double delightfulness, and an exciting announcement, too

 Mr whippy at Ditchling Beacon

I have two tasty and practical treats for you today, my friends.

Think of these as being as delicious as a cone full of lip-smacking soft-serve vanilla, paired with a crispy, chocolately cookie, while containing all the nutrition and calories of broccoli.

First up is my latest contribution at the Happy Wives Club.

Talking with other wives, I have heard story upon story of conversations that begin with civility but end up in conflict. I decided to share three things my hubby and I have done over the years that have helped us avoid fighting in our marriage.

In her introduction, Fawn wrote:

When I read this post by HWC contributor, Kim Hall, the first thing I thought was “Yes!”  I have always been a true believer that arguments aren’t a requirement in marriage; quite the contrary.

In the this post, Kim gives three things you can do to successfully get your point across without saying something you are likely to later regret.

My hope is that you take this simple ideas to help make your communication go more smoothly and your marriage more joyful!

3 Tips to Avoid Fighting with Your Spouse

And now, drum roll, please: Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Is that what a drum roll looks like?

Just go with it, friends, a la Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation. :-)

You can  find me hanging out monthly as

one of the new columnists at Engaged Marriage!

Here is the announcement, listing all the yummy goodness you can find there.

EM is a “source of information and motivation for those that want something more from life and agree that our most important relationships shouldn’t be mired in mediocrity.”

Dustin continues on his About page:

That’s why a central theme of the posts here at Engaged Marriage is candid and practical advice that you can learn and put into action without a huge time commitment.  Whether it’s fighting fair or achieving financial peace in your marriage, you will find a plethora of “no B.S.” information to help you in every area of family life.

Alongside the practical information that you need, you’ll find healthy doses of motivation in the form of humor, personal stories and spiritual reflections.

I am standing here beside myself with excitement, to quote that amusing character in Short Circuit, tickled pink and pleased as punch to join Dustin, to help married couples navigate the sometimes treacherous waters of finance and work.

Don’t you just love how the school of hard knocks—and, yes, stupidity—loads you up with experience and wisdom to share?

Yeah, me too. :-)

My inaugural post is up:

How Counting Your Blessings Can Help Pay Down Your Debt

Come on over and share your thoughts!

Be sure to check out all that Dustin and my fellow writers offer too, and join Engaged Marriage in the Social Media arena for help and hope for your relationship.

Thank you, my friends, for helping make this possible. You are my greatest cheerleaders, and it is for you I do what I do. I am truly humbled by your encouragement!

Question: What is the best practical advice you’ve ever been given for your marriage?
