I am a gatherer of resources, a sharer of information to help you find happiness right where you are.
Especially in those really irritating places where you wonder if you can get through the day without doing something you’ll regret.
I am starting this weekly series—Saturday Sips—as a way to share the multitude of resources that find their way to me like cute little puppy dogs.
These will take a wide variety of forms, from wisdom and information to encouragement and just plain joy.
They will cover all areas of your life, so you’ll be sure to find plenty that will help you.
Today, the first resource is for those times you really, really, really, need to reach out and touch someone.
When you need a real live person like you need the refreshment of a frosty cold drink on a hot summer’s day.
Have you ever been stuck in voice mail purgatory, where you just can’t connect with a human being?
You are led through an endless byzantine loop of choose from the following selections and please wait for the next available operator which seem to be designed to make you give up, hang up, and go away.
I’ve been there and have been known to lose my cool more than once.
Now I have a new tool, and so do you:
Get Human: Phone numbers for real people
Isn’t that a great name?
It is more than a database of phone numbers for the weary caller.
They list wait times, numbers to get callbacks, and live chat options, too.
An interview with Deal News shares more information.
The second resource shares how to make the best use of getting through:
Save a pile of cash every year with these five phone calls
The author is Ramit Sethi, author of I Will Teach You to be Rich, writing at Lifehacker.
While I don’t agree with him on all points financial, he is a wizard at communication.
He has a link, too, to so you can download actual scripts if you want them.
Yes, you’ll have to share your email address, but his information is worth it in my humble opinion. And, yes, I am a subscriber.
If you don’t need this information now, please pin it for later!
Although I am an optimist, I am a realist as well, and I know there will come a time you will want one or both of these.
If you hover over the image, the Pinterest button will appear so it’s easy as pie to save.
Happy calling!
Question: Do you have secrets or successes to share about getting through to a company?

Frequently, if you don’t hit any buttons at all when making a call, you will be automatically directed to a live voice (the back-up for anyone still using a dial phone…) stopping in from #LOBS

I did not know that! Having multiple ways to get where you want to be is great! Thanks so much for sharing that tip and stopping by!

Kim – it’s so true that you can negotiate pricing on almost every service. I am in t he middle of this now with starting a business. It never hurts to try!

I’ll bet you are a fearless negotiator! You are right-there is no harm in trying.
As my brother who is in sales says, “If you don’t ask, the answer is definitely NO. If you do ask, it might be YES!”
